I felt alone and deserted. Then Forgotten Not Gone gave me something to look forward to and introduced me to a new set of friends who were going through some of the same issues.

Forgotten Not Gone to me is my reset button that gives me the emotional strength to keep going and be a functional mother for my kids. It reminds me that I’m not alone. And just how do I get help from their resources? I get internal satisfaction to be able to volunteer for an organization that is truly there for veterans and their families. That’s what Forgotten Not Gone is for me: My family.

I met Peter and Kelley at film school in 2014. After learning about their story and Forgotten Not Gone, how could I not be inspired? FNG has provided a way for me to give back to my community and to help local veterans. They give me and countless others hope when times may seem dark. Providing an effective method to get veterans out of the isolation which in too many cases leads to depression.I am constantly reminded what it looks like to battle and overcome physical and mental limitation. I am proud to be a part of an organization that is truly there for the wellbeing of veterans and their families.

For 6 years after leaving the military I struggled to find a new mission to devote my life to. I got stuck in a downward spiral, almost becoming a statistic multiple times. Luckily I had a strong support system and was able to commit my time to Forgotten Not Gone instead of feeling sorry for myself. To see the effects this organization is having on others is enough to help me find a reason to get up each day and Man my Post.
